This is a shirt with some history. I originally purchased an XS brown heather calvin klein tshirt early in high school. It has probably been washed 500 times and bleached maybe 10 times prior to renovation.
In the spring-summer of 2005, I "was in a band" that practiced on NE 15th and Alberta, Portland, OR. The occupants of the house had a pirate themed party and i decided to go the "former pirate" route. my line was "i retired early. i'm not into pillaging and raping...i'm into hedge funds and pre-nups." i wore some skull-and-crossbones slip-on vans (they were the style at the time), cut off khakis, and a polyester plaid dinner jacket. that night i drank a fair amount of low grade champagne strictly out of the bottle.
initially i sprayed half-stenciled red lines crosswise onto the shirt. then, later, i made a stencil of a skull and one of a pair of crossed bones and sprayed them baby blue.
i wore this to that party, around the house, and (when rebelling against corporate "business casual" dress codes) my undesirable occupation. even though it was the rattiest, nastiest, crusty undershirt, it seems that people were attracted to this shirt and how i wore it.
here are 3 photos:
the last photo is blurry on purpose. yes, she is drinking champagne out of a mixing bowl.
